1 ) Project: Human Development Index – Public Assessment   (İGE-K)

Statement of Work: We created a unique and complementary index (IGE-K) for Human Development monitoring in INGEV, based on public self-assessment. HDI, as it is monitored regularly by UNDP, is a measure of average achievement in key dimensions of human development: a long and healthy life, being knowledgeable and have a decent standard of living. Besides, the conceptual understanding human development has evolved in time. Recently, UNDP is pondering how the existing indices can be complemented to reflect broader understanding of human development. How could environmental sustainability, inter-generational equity, or human security, for example, be better addressed in terms of human development indices? IGE-K is designed considering the actual conceptual framework of UNDP’s Human Development approach and enlarged with evolving understanding of the concept. It is a strong indicator rise upon public opinion by evaluating human development criteria in evolved concept considering everyday life experiences of citizens. Project has been completed in 2017 and published online.

2) Project: Economic Impact Assessment of the Clashes in Diyarbakir’s Sur Research

Statement of Work: Economic Impact Assessment of the Clashes in Diyarbakir’s Sur Research was conducted to determine the economic effects of the clashes in Diyarbakır Sur in 2015. Project has been conducted by the co-work of Diyarbakır Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Karacadağ Development Agency, Istanbul Policy Centre (IPC), and Human Development Foundation (İNGEV).

Project has been conducted in two steps: 1) Quantitative interviews 2) Round table discussion.

Project revealed the economic effect of the clashes in financial terms, determined and proposed actions for rehabilitation. Outputs of the research has been reported and shared with public authorities after a press conference.

Responsibilities: Project design, fieldwork management, moderation of round table discussion, data analysis, reporting and presentation.

3) Project: Social Cohesion in Turkey

Statement of Work:  Social Cohesion Index Survey has been conducted through the partnership of INGEV and Istanbul Policy Centre (IPC). Research model is designed through the literature of Social Cohesion theory. Fieldwork run in 26 cities and outputs revealed current social cohesion level of Turkey, hot topics for social cohesion, barriers, and opportunities and submit policy offers for public authorities.

Research Article: Opportunities for Consensus and Coexistence after July 15: Peace and Human Development Connection

 

Statement of Work: This article focuses on the reconstruction of social peace and tries to develop suggestions based on “peace building-human development relationship. Referring to “Human Development Index- Public Assessment (İGE-K)” findings, article proposes solutions and reconciliation offers for rebuilding social peace in Turkey by underlining the importance of human development concept.

Project: Social Cohesion Monitor

The “Social Cohesion Development” report has been published by researcher Aysen Ataseven this year on behalf of INGEV. The report, which was prepared using data gathered from 1514 interviews across 26 provinces in Turkey, focuses on comprehending the dimensions of social cohesion and the current situation in the country. The study enables a greater comprehension of the recent developments in social cohesion.
